Scientist Rex Tyler stumbled upon a the super-drug Miraclo during experiments in the lab and, upon testing, discovered that it could produce incredible strength and speed. With a costume taken from a costume shop, Tyler became Hourman, so named because the effects of Miraclo lasted only an hour. Despite the limitations of his powers, the valour in his heart allowed him to become a member of the illustrious Justice Society of America. Despite this honour, though, Tyler was frequently troubled by his own addiction to Miraclo and it was not until Johnny Quick taught him a new method of gaining power that he overcame this.
